Readers’ Theater

Our Project Directors work with participants in your community to mount script-in-hand staged readings, as classroom-based learning or as presentations for audiences. Optional associated workshops explore techniques for generating original work. Professional touring productions are available for booking from time to time.

Breaking the Silence

An oral history play on the Japanese American experience from immigration through redress that acts as a model for researching and presenting historical subjects.

I Dream a World: Black Women Who Changed America

An adaptation of the book of photographs and interviews by the Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer, Brian Lanker, which teaches interview and literary adaptation techniques.

Most Dangerous Women

A documentary play celebrating a century of the international women’s peace movement, featuring scores of women who have inspired the world with their words and songs of peace and social justice, including Jane Addams, Jeannette M. Rankin, Mairead Corrigan Maguire, Coretta Scott King, Aung San Suu Kyi, Wangari Maathai, Linda Allen, Joan Szymko, and Holly Near.

Word of Mouth: Women Singing and Speaking for Peace

An assemblage of songs and monologues featuring adaptations of the words of historic figures such as Virginia Woolf, Jane Addams, Anne Frank, and Olive Shreiner.
